Senior or Principle Optical Engineer

Senior/Principle Optical Design Engineer responsibilities include specification development via customer and/or internal systems engineer interface, schedule development, optical design, tolerancing, documentation, presentation, assembly planning, validation planning, and troubleshooting as required. Designs are typically refractive or catadioptric man-portable devices. Wavelengths of interest are currently VIS, NIR/SWIR, and LWIR. Hands-on approach, and both independent and team centered skills are essential. The successful candidate leans to a systems engineering mindset, and is driven by an entrepreneurial spirit.

Minimum qualifications include a related BS with 10+ years of direct experience, and a solid understanding of optical mounting and assembly practices. Optical design software proficiency (ZEMAX preferred), and US citizen or Green Card required. Familiarity with the military design environment a plus. Holography, micro-lens (imaging), laser aiming/illumination, and/or rangefinder Tx/Rx design experience is beneficial.

Laser Engineer
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and testing prototype and pre-production solid-state lasers for a variety of fielded applications.
Requirements:  This position requires extensive laboratory experience in laser assembly, diagnostics, and test. It will also require proficiency in the following disciplines:
· Laser modeling to identify laser material and optical pumping characteristics needed to achieve required performance, cost, and production goals.
· Electro-optic q-switching techniques including driver characteristics needed to achieve low loss performance.
· Optical design and modeling of components and systems.
· OPO conversion techniques and material characteristics needed to shift single wavelength lasers into "eye safe" spectral regions. Laboratory and system level laser diagnostics and capable of building, characterizing, and optimizing new laser systems as well as diagnose laser related production issues. Perform laboratory work (test and characterization from components to systems).
· Documenting technical reports, work instructions and engineering drawings.
Master's degree in Electrical, Optical, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).  5+ year's commercial experience in design, development, and testing of optical and electro-optical components and systems. Experience using commercially available optical design tools (such as Zemax, ASAP, LightTools, etc.).  In-depth experience with design for manufacturability and reliability.  Profound knowledge of geometric and physical optics.  Ability to work with mechanical engineers in developing optical platform sub-assemblies / assemblies. Ability to work both independently and in a group setting.  Experience working on multiple product development cycles from concept through production.

Optical Engineer

Software Engineer (Embedded)
As a member of our technical staff you will be part of an engineering team in a challenging, fast paced company where designs become production reality. You will be responsible for the development of embedded software and application tools for a variety of projects.
Job responsibilities include:
· Developing embedded software to meet system requirements
· Developing and executing software unit and functional tests
· Assisting with design changes or software updates
· Documenting software design details
· Collaborating with staff and other engineers to meet project milestones
· Defining and developing software interfaces for custom-designed hardware

Senior Mechanical Engineer
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design of plastic and metal housings for handheld and weapon mounted electronic products as well as producing full engineering drawings and test methodologies for manufacturing. Will also be responsible for the integration of electronics and batteries into housings as well as the incorporation of proper design techniques for weatherproofing, impact and shock resistance to meet IP 67 and Mil spec standards. The individual must be capable of working in a team environment across the organization, interfacing with all disciplines as well as customers. Must be able to derive conceptual product designs through to manufacturable products from marketing/sales input, and customer desires. Must be an enthusiastic self-starter with an eagerness to run with a project and be comfortable in a multi tasking environment.
Requirements:

Systems Engineer
As a member of Company's Engineering team you will provide systems engineering leadership and technical expertise to support the development of military systems. The Company's  Engineering Team is focused on providing innovative solutions that maximize the soldier's effectiveness on the battlefield. As a Systems
Engineer you will be involved in many phases of the design process, from concept to prototype integration to production.

Optical Design Engineer

Job Description:

This position requires someone knowledgeable in the areas of Optical System Design across the Visible to Infra-red spectrum including analysis, simulation, design and realization of solutions to Visible, Laser, I2 and FLIR systems requirements. Responsibilities include concept development, optical system architecture, system trade-off analysis, requirements definition and flow down, and test and evaluation of optical performance parameters at both the component and system level. Analytical skills should be complimented by an ability to lead system integration and test activities. Outstanding communication skills are required to convey technical ideas to both the customer community and to engineering peers. Supervision of a technical design team and preparation of cost estimates and schedules for proposed activities are additional anticipated duties.

Responsibilities: 

Lens design experience including tolerancing and direct involvement with the manufacture, assembly, and troubleshooting of systems.

Optical and Electro-optical System performance modeling including imaging and radiometric/photometric properties.

Direct system experience in the designs involving: FLIRs, Laser Rangefinders/Designators, CCD imagers, Image Intensified Systems, LIDAR, Projection and display systems, Medical optical applications or other similar imaging systems.

Optical design of: SWIR/MWIR/LWIR optics, Catadioptric, zoom lenses, afocals, microscopes, multiple discrete FOV lenses, laser optics, relay lenses, visual systems, multi/hyper spectral optics.

Opto-Mechanical Engineer

Job Description:

This position requires someone with broad capabilities in the area of mechanical engineering with specific experienced based knowledge of mechanical design for opto-mechanical assemblies in addition to a firm foundation in mechanical engineering. Responsibilities:

Minimum of 3 years direct experience in the design and manufacture of opto-mechanical assemblies in a production environment

Familiar with the mechanical properties of conventional glasses and crystalline materials for infrared optics

Skilled in the use of solid modeling CAD tools specifically either ProEngineer or SolidWorks.

Understanding of design dimensioning and tolerancing methods and conventions (e.g. true-position dimensioning, geometric tolerancing, etc.), assembly constraints, and kinematics

The individual will perform mechanical design to support Electro-Mechanical packaging of Integrated Dewar-Cooler Assemblies. Mechanical CAD proficiency using 3D modeling is required. Experience with geometric tolerancing per ASME Y14.5 and stack-up tolerances is required. Must be self-starter or function in small group for projects starting from initial conceptual design to Manufacturing hand-off, including; detail design, light assembly, testing, results documentation, and completing tasks on schedule. Good problem solving skills on technical issues are desirable. Responsibilities include Customer & Vendor interaction to develop and support IR Products. Creating Interface Control Drawings (ICD), component and assembly models/drawings of Imaging Systems and participate in engineering design reviews and product development teams. Create and check manufacturing drawings for part/assembly fabrication. Interface with Manufacturing Engineering in support of product transition, test fixture design, and design rule generation. Coordinate and track changes to Bill of Materials.

 

Project Engineer

BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering. The individuals must have 5+ years engineering experience. Project management experience desired. Technical knowledge contributing to the design, development, and sustaining support of thermal imaging systems desired. The individual will provide technical leadership of infrared focal plane array and infrared imaging system development projects throughout the product lifecycle. Oversees and coordinates electrical, software, and mechanical engineering design efforts. Manages projects through allocating and maintaining requirements, project planning, and communicating with the design team. Works to keep the design on schedule and meet system level requirements. Identifies test and qualification plans and manages initial product deliveries. Supports proposals for new business opportunities as required. Project Engineer

BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering. MS degree is a plus. 5 years of experience in project engineering would be desirable but is not required. CO-OP experience would be helpful. Technical knowledge that would allow contribution to design, development, and sustaining support for thermal imaging systems is desirable. The individual will learn to take the lead on development projects and set up product delivery schedules; set up testing and qualification plans; support proposal efforts as required, and interface with Manufacturing and Quality Control. Project Engineer

BS degree in one of the Science/Engineering Fields. A MS degree is preferred. The individual will provide technical project coordination and support for advanced state-of-art infrared imager design, development, manufacturing and testing on all IR products. Reliability Engineer

Bachelor of Science Degree: Electrical, Mechanical or Mathematics and one year experience. Must be able to perform reliability calculations for avionic systems. Experience performing Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Reliability Block Diagram analysis and Fault tree analysis required. Must have strong background in statistics, probability theory, and reliability theory. Experience with safety critical systems and Probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) desired. Experience with Military specifications, drawing and screening requirements desired. The individual will perform FMEAs, Fault tree analyses and reliability calculations for high reliability electrical systems for launch vehicles and space flight equipment. Generate reports on analysis results, brief staff on requirements and present analysis to customers. Will interface directly with vendors and customers to handle piece part related issues. No direct reports, although individual will oversee reliability activities of design engineers.

 

Test Engineer

BSEE or BSEET degree. Minimum of 3 years experience programming in C/C++ and /or LabVIEW for Test Systems is required. Ability to troubleshoot high reliability electronics, familiarity with bus control of test equipment, experience in the design of test systems, software planning, test procedures, and test scripting are desired. A Strong desire to learn and good interpersonal skills and written skills are also essential to being successful in this position. Some non-standard working hours and weekends will also be required. The individual will be responsible for writing test system software to test high reliability avionics. The individual will also be responsible for hardware design and troubleshooting test systems.
